Hi!
I’ve recently signed up 2 athletes, both candidates for the Olympic Summer Games in London 2012.
The deal is that I train them on an irregular basis whenever there is time and desire. Meaning approx. 4-6 sessions on a 2-3 months basis after the initial 10 session intensives.
The first one is the Swedish swimmer Lars Frölander who has taken over 55 medals in international championships. He is Olympic gold medalist and several times World Champion. His career peaked in 2000 and 2001 and he is today one of the “old boys” on the circuit with his 36 years.
During this winter we trained 2 intensives, first in November and then in January. In the beginning of May he took 6 additional sessions.
Last weekend he participated in the Swedish Championships and won both 100 m freestyle and 50 m butterfly stroke! Last year his best performance was 4th. So getting older and getting better…
The second athlete is Anders Wiemo, 31, who is several times Swedish Champion in 50 m Olympic Rifle Shooting.
The week after his first intensive he equaled his Swedish record while training and the day after he outperformed his personal top performance by three points ending 1 point from the World Record (1186)! A (minor) quantum leap!
To give an idea; a competition takes about 4.5 hours and you shoot in altogether 120 shots in 3 shooting positions: prone, standing and kneeling. It’s probably one of the most focus demanding sport there is.
During his second intensive we stopped after 6 sessions since he had to attend the qualification for the European Championships. We trained the 6th session Friday, he shot the week end, won everything and came back Monday for two more sessions!
Unfortunately he was diagnosed with diabetes the week before his first intensive so he has to manage his insulin carefully during the competitions which is an additional stress factor.
In sum. Swimming and shooting are quite opposed to each other, one very physical and the other very mental. The best results in shooting so far seem to happen right after (or in) BWO training. In swimming it’s not so surprising that training needs to be integrated for optimum result. Both are very responsive to the BWO training and while Lars has now extremely low, stable and balanced values for his brainwaves. Anders focus is excellent and he’s outstanding in the 951/952 protocols.
It will be interesting to follow the effects in the long run. I’ll keep you posted when something exciting happens.
Best,
Stig
